Why Did We Go To War With Iraq?
Many young
people ask: "Why did we go to war with Iraq?" Our President,
George W. Bush, made a case to the United Nations, the U.S. Congress,
and the American people. Although the United Nations later disagreed
that war was necessary (in the opinion of key influential members),
they did agree that Iraq was a threat to the security of the world
and voted to enforce their resolution to make Iraq a safer nation
with force (war). Our U.S. Congress voted to support military
force and gave the President authorization to use force in Iraq,
although some in Congress did not agree. While some Americans
protested against war, Americans overwhelmingly supported taking
action against Iraq in the War on Terror - Operation Enduring
Freedom. Below are some facts regarding the case. These are listed
in public records and reports.
